Rockcastle County, Kentucky is located in the southeastern part of Kentucky. We are conveniently located just off of interstate-75 between Madison and Laurel county. As of the 2010 census, the population in Rockcastle County was 17,056. The county seat is Mt. Vernon, Kentucky, which is 54.7 miles south of Lexington, Kentucky on I-75. The closest airport is only a short drive north of Lexington.  The county was founded in 1810 and named for the Rockcastle River, which runs through it. Rockcastle County has many area attractions including the popular Renfro Valley Entertainment Center, Kentucky Music Hall of Fame, and more.

Mt. Vernon is the county seat of Rockcastle. In addition to interstate-75, US Hwy 25 and 150 intersect in Mt. Vernon. The population of Mt. Vernon was 2.477 at the time of the 2010 U.S. Census. Located in Mt. Vernon is home to Rockcastle Regional Hospital, a regional leader in healthcare that is in partnership with The University of Kentucky Healthcare System. Rockcastle Regional Hospital is a national leader for those requiring advanced ventilatory therapy and management. Mt. Vernon is also home to Lake Linville, which is a 356-acre reservoir here in Rockcastle County. This 72 feet high and 1100 feet long dam is owned and operated by the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Mt. Vernon is home to the ever-popular Kentucky Music Hall of Fame, the Renfro Valley Entertainment Center, which is known as "Kentucky's County Music Capitol."

Livingston is an integral part of our community here in Rockcastle County. Livingston is Eastern Kentucky's first Kentucky Trail Town. The Rockcastle River runs through this picturesque town.

Brodhead is a Rockcastle County city at the head of Dix River and located about 6 miles northwest of Mt. Vernon. The population of Brodhead was approximately 1,211 at the time of the 2010 U.S. Census.
